Dear Participants,
Welcome to the 24thAnnual 48hrs of Tristate the longest continuously running Subaru event in North America. This trip has evolved over the 24 years and I am proud to say that The Committee has done an amazing job to build this into an amazing event over these years. As of this writing you have already raised over $46,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A few administrative items I wanted to go over with everyone as well:
Website Information:
We’ve updated the website with a lot of information under the Drive & Trip Info Tab so please visit http://48hrs.info and check out that info!
Morning Driver’s Meeting:
It is VERY IMPORTANT to attend. At that time we will be giving out information vital to the trip’s smooth running. Changes to the schedule may come at that time, weather updates, etc.
Groups:
This year we are going to have group signup sheets at the time of check-in so that you can signup for a particular group. If you want to be with your friends make sure to signup for that group, or if you dislike them make sure NOT to signup for their group! We will ask for Make/Model/Year/Color/Distinguishing Marks, Name and Cell Phone number so that your group leader will always know how to get in touch with you especially if you are sleeping and we are prepping to get on the road. You will also be able to use the QR Code to join your group’s specific WhatsApp group which will be a vital form of communication during the trip with your group and group leaders.
Items to remember to bring:
Window Washer Fluid- There will be a lot of salt on the road and it will get sprayed on your windows.
Sunglasses- For a good part of the trip we will be driving into the sun, with a lot of snow reflection.
Oil/Fluids- If your car needs special fluids or leak etc, make sure to bring it with you.
For the complete list check under “CAR PREP” on http://48hrs.info
Personal Conduct:
Please remember that not only are we representing The 48hrs of Tristate on this trip, but we are a rolling billboard for Subaru of America. They have been gracious enough to help sponsor us for many years, in return we must conduct ourselves in a mature controlled manner (No donuts in parking lots, etc etc)
Caravan Rules:
While we are caravanning, the group will stay together, as a driver, you should always keep the headlights of the participant behind you in your mirror. So if we are on a backroad, there is no need to be right on top of the guy in front of you, just make sure you don’t lose the guy behind you. On the interstates/highways, if you see that the guy in front has signaled to change lanes, move over to that lane and signal him to get in front of you this helps keep the group together, make sure to do it in a safe fashion, no need to cutoff big rigs or anything!
Evening Activities:
Make sure that you have fueled up in the evening before you turn in to bed or before you start drinking. This is very important because we will have a tight schedule in the mornings. Also know yourself, if you need lots of sleep, make sure to try to turn in early. There will be a lot of driving on this trip, so be prepared.
Waivers:
Make sure that you bring your insurance information with you to put on your waiver form (Carrier & Policy #) All participating vehicles are required to have liability insurance. Everyone participating drivers and passengers will be required to sign a waiver when they check in with us. This is for everyone’s safety.
Schedule/Information:
We have compiled a PDF document with pertinent information. Please print this and bring it along. We are including in this e-mail also Waiver Forms for the event. Please print and fill them out (but don’t sign them) and bring with you to registration. The Schedule is online this year.
Meals Provided by Sponsors:
Thursday Opening Dinner presented by Subaru of America at Subaru of America Headquarters
Friday Lunch presented by Liberty Subaru
Sunday Closing Dinner presented by Faulkner Subaru
Special Something to help with Breakfast of your choice presented by Subimods
Special thanks to our presenting sponsors who came through for us big time this year providing 4 meals over the course of the weekend. Subaru of America will be providing the Opening Dinner at SOA HQ on Thurs Night.
Please make sure to use all of the vendors throughout the year and let them know you are thankful for their support of the 48hrs of Tristate. Without their generosity the trip would be impossible to put on.
With the admin items taken care of, I would like to take this time to thank the entire Committee for their tireless efforts to make this trip happen. Mark R, Robert M Cory C and Jason K for their efforts to get the sponsors on board. Nick R and Peter C who work night and day on coordinating the Charity portion of the trip including getting everyone’s money moved over to the proper place and lots of background items as well. Mark S did a great job as always on the T-shirt Design. Justin W worked to come up with a great route. Cory C for helping out with social media updates and Bruce D for coordinating the group dinners.
The idea of this trip is to have FUN, if you aren’t having fun, I WANT TO KNOW so I can try to make sure you are having fun. If at any point before, during or after the trip, do not hesitate to contact me directly via e-mail or phone call or text and I will address any concerns. If you don’t have anyone to eat a meal with or are short on cash for that meal, there is ALWAYS a spot at my table. Thank you for participating and see most of you on Thursday evening!
